Weedy Seadragon

The Weedy Seadragon is one of Australia’s most enchanting marine creatures, with delicate, leaf-like appendages and slow, graceful movements that make it look like a drifting piece of seaweed. Found only in the coastal waters of southern Australia, it holds special significance as the marine emblem of Victoria. As shown in this drawing, it is the male who carries the eggs on his tail, protecting them until they hatch. Remarkable and elusive, weedy seadragons are a quiet reminder of the magic that lies beneath our seas.
