Superb Fairy-Wren

Superb Fairy-wrens are a beloved favourite in Southeast Australia. The familiar blue crown, cheek and collar of a male wren, contrast strikingly with the black feathers during breeding season. These delightful little birds, with their round, fluffy bodies, can be seen bouncing through the undergrowth in family groups, foraging and pausing to preen each other. Their high-pitched calls often give them away before you catch sight of their tiny, darting forms.
